Three Small Words Can Change Everything
As a Court Appointed Special Advocate, I volunteer for CASA. My role is to support children in the Child Protective Services (CPS) system. Whether from physical, sexual, or emotional abuse—or all three—these young people sometimes lose sight of their value. I didn’t.
Too often, a child would ask me, “Why do you like me?”
No child should ever question their worth.
I responded, “You are good.” And I told them the many ways they were unique.
You Are Good became more than a slogan or tagline. It’s a mission to instill worth in every child. I created clothing and notecards with the message so we can remind ourselves and others that we are all valued.
You are good… lovable and perfect, just the way you are!

Livi & Grace
I wrote Livi and Grace to show people that children are special in their own ways. You should never judge one to be better than another. They’re just different.
And this message has resonated. I have read my children’s book to audiences of children and adults—parents, grandparents, educators, mentors, advocates, and community leaders—and I see the power of the story’s meaning on their faces.

Jennifer Lynch
Children inspire me. Their spirit, kindness, creativity, laughter, resilience, and the ability to forgive make me want to be more like a child. For over 25 years, I’ve invested my career in guiding children—as a court-appointed special advocate, ESL instructor, teacher, and mom.
